Female Sexuality
Sex is a normal, healthy & internal part of the life. It is an act of touching intimately with stimulation giving excitement to a partner, male or female and Sexuality is a complex process, coordinated by the neurologic, vascular and endocrine systems. A sexual problem, or sexual dysfunction, refers to a problem during any phase of the sexual intercourse that prevents the individual or couple from experiencing satisfaction from the sexual activity. Sexual problems are common and can occur in women of any age.
In addition, Sexual dysfunction or sexual problem is a term used to describe difficulties in libido (sex drive), arousal, orgasm, or pain with sex that is bothersome to an individual. Sexual dysfunction may be a lifelong problem or acquired later in life after a period of having no difficulties with sex. Women are most likely to be satisfied with their sex lives if they are physically and psychologically healthy and have a good relationship with their partner. Although a host of changes in hormones, blood vessels, and tissues of the vagina can affect a woman’s sexuality, relationship difficulties and feeling poorly, are the most common causes of sexual problems. Sexual problems fall into four groups:
1. Sex Desire problems
2. Arousal problems
3. Orgasmic problems
4. Sexual pain disorder
Lack of Sex desire (libido): Libido, or sex drive, is the desire or interest to have sexual activity, and often involves sexual thoughts, images, and wishes. Desire may occur spontaneously or in response to a partner, thoughts, or images. A lack of desire before having sex is normal for some women. They may not feel that they want to have sex until they begin to engage in sexual activity and become aroused. A lack of desire is considered a disorder when a woman
• Does not want to engage in any type of sexual activity, including masturbation.
• Does not have (or has very few) sexual thoughts or fantasies.
• Is worried or concerned about these issues.
Sexual desire is not essential to have a satisfactory sex life. In other words, a woman who does not think about or initiate sex does not necessarily have a problem. Many factors can contribute to a lack of desire, including hormonal changes, medical conditions and treatments (for example cancer and chemotherapy), depression, pregnancy, stress, and fatigue.
Arousal problems: Arousal is a sense of sexual pleasure, often accompanied by an increase in blood flow to the genitals and an increased heart rate, blood pressure, and rate of breathing. It is name of the physical and emotional changes that occur in the body as a result of sexual stimulation. For women, following changes occur during arousal:
• Blood pressure goes up.
• Heart rate, breathing, and temperature increase.
• The nipples, labia, and clitoris fill with blood and become more sensitive.
• The vagina lubricates and expands.
Inability to become physically aroused during sexual activity often involves insufficient vaginal lubrication and also may be affected by anxiety, Stress, medications, alcohol, smoking & inadequate stimulation. In addition, low blood flow problems affecting the vagina and clitoris may contribute to arousal problems.
There are different kinds of arousal disorders. Some women with arousal disorders may not feel mental or physical excitement from sex. Some may feel only mental excitement and do not have a physical response, or vice versa. Others may dislike the feelings of arousal or may be indifferent to them. Arousal disorders often overlap with desire disorders.
Orgasmic Disorder: Orgasm is defined as a peaking of sexual pleasure and release of sexual tension, usually with contractions of the muscles in the genital area and reproductive organs. Although desire, arousal, and orgasm describe the typical sexual response, the goal of sexual activity is satisfaction for both partners, which may or may not all aspects of the sexual response cycle (desire, arousal, orgasm).
Women with orgasmic disorders may never have had an orgasm from sexual encounters, or they may have had orgasms at one time but no longer have them, despite healthy arousal. The intensity of orgasm may have decreased, which can occur with age. A common issue is a woman who is able to have an orgasm during masturbation but cannot have an orgasm with her partner. Although not considered a disorder, communicating with her partner about the activities that lead to orgasm for her may be helpful.
It can be caused by sexual inhibition, inexperience, lack of knowledge, and psychological factors such as guilt, anxiety, or a past sexual trauma or abuse. It also may occur when a woman does not trust her partner. It is common for women who do not have orgasms to have arousal problems. Other factors contributing to anorgasmia include insufficient stimulation, certain medications, and chronic diseases.
Sexual Pain Disorder: Painful sex may be a lifelong or short-term condition. Pain that occurs during sexual activities other than intercourse is called “noncoital sexual pain disorder.” Pain during intercourse is called dyspareunia. It includes pain that occurs during the following situations:
• During partial or complete entry into the vagina.
• During thrusting.
• During urination after sex.
Most sexually active women have had pain during sex at some point in their lives. If it occurs often or is severe, this condition is referred to the sexual pain disorder. It can be caused by a number of problems, including endometriosis, a pelvic mass, ovarian cysts, vaginitis, and poor lubrication, the presence of scar tissue from surgery or a sexually transmitted disease. A condition called vaginismus is a painful, involuntary spasm of the muscles that surround the vaginal entrance. It may occur in women who fear that penetration will be painful and also may stem from a sexual phobia or from a previous traumatic or painful experience.
Symptoms of Sexual Problems: Female sexual dysfunction may be developing at any age, but sexual problems often happen when your hormones are in flux. Sexual concerns may also occur with major illness, such as cancer or cardiovascular disease. Your problems might be classified as female sexual dysfunction if you experience one or more of the following and you’re distressed about it:
• Your desire to have sex is low or absent.
• You can’t maintain arousal during sexual activity, or you don’t become aroused despite a desire to have sex.
• You cannot experience an orgasm.
• You have pain during sexual contact.
Causes of female Sexual problems: The causes of sexual problems are as varied and complex as the human race. Any of the following can contribute to sexual problems:
Insufficient stimulation: A woman’s lack of knowledge about sexual stimulation and response may prevent a woman from achieving a satisfactory experience. Poor communication between partners can also be a culprit here.
Gynecologic problems: A number of pelvic disorders can cause pain in intercourse and thus decrease satisfaction.
Vaginal dryness: The most common reason for this in younger women is insufficient stimulation. In older women, the decrease in estrogen that occurs in menopause is the cause of vaginal dryness. Poor lubrication can also be linked to hormone imbalances and other illnesses and to certain medications. It can inhibit arousal or make intercourse uncomfortable.
Vaginismus: This is a painful spasm of the muscles surrounding the vaginal opening that causes the vaginal opening to “tighten.” It can prevent penetration or make penetration extremely painful. Vaginismus can be caused by injuries or scars from surgery, abuse, or childbirth, by infection, or by irritation from douches, spermicides, or condoms. It can also be caused by fear.
Sexually transmitted diseases – Gonorrhea, herpes, genital warts, Chlamydia, and syphilis are infectious diseases spread by sexual contact. They can cause changes in the genitals that make sex uncomfortable or even painful.
Vaginitis: Inflammation and irritation of vaginal tissues due to infection or other causes can make intercourse uncomfortable or painful.
Nerve damage after surgery: Unavoidable cutting of small nerves during pelvic surgery (such as hysterectomy) may decrease sensation and response.
Physical conditions: Many physical or medical conditions can decrease a woman’s satisfaction with her sex life.
Tiredness (fatigue)
Chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease
Cancer
Neurologic disorders
Vascular (blood flow) disorders
Hormonal imbalances
Menopause
Pregnancy
Alcohol or drug abuse

Females of any species have being the carrier of the progeny. She has been provided with the powers to conceive and then give birth to the same progeny of the species. Female body is entirely controlled by hormones that make all the child birth possible. Though this is a blessing by God as she has the power to make her progeny to progress but still she has to face lots of agony and troubles.
Female reproductive tract is one of the most complex systems of the body. The hormonal effects make it susceptible to various wanted and unwanted effects. The menstrual cycles plays one the most important role in the life of a female. But it carry with it lots of problems and pains that only female can understand.
Introduction
Leucorrhea is commonly known as white discharge. It is a female disease of the genital tract, in which a white discharge is seen from the vagina. Even its Sanskrit name, shwetapradara, is made up of two words – shweta which means ‘white’ and pradara which means ‘discharge’.
Definition of Leucorrhea (Shwetapradara)
Leucorrhea is simply defined as a whitish discharge from the female vaginal tract. The discharge could be a smooth flow, or it could be sticky and lumpy. In most women, the nature of the discharge changes as their age advances or if they travel a lot.
Vaginal discharge is quite a normal and healthy phenomenon in females to an extent. The discharge is actually a fluid form of all the worn out and dead cells in the vaginal tract, along with other toxic materials that are eliminated continuously from the vagina. In a healthy woman, such discharges are whitish in color. But if the discharge darkens in color, then it requires medical attention.
Though shwetapradara literally means ‘white discharge’, the medical condition refers to the serious condition where there is some abnormality in the manner of the discharge. The following are the situations when shwetapradara needs to be treated:-
- The discharge is very profuse and is difficult to stop even with sanitary pads.
- The discharge is not pure white, but is Grey-white, yellow or green, brown or rusty in color.
- There is an itching sensation in the vagina following the discharge.
Causes of Leucorrhea (Shwetapradara)
There are a variety of reasons due to which leucorrhea can occur in women. The following are some of the well-known causes:-
(i) Fungal infection – A fungus, much like the yeast, can cause infection of the vaginal tract, leading to leucorrhea. When the woman is infected by a fungus, then the discharge is in thick and white accompanied by an itching sensation. This kind of discharge is called as a vaginal thrush.
(ii) Sexually transmitted diseases – Some sexually transmitted diseases can cause leucorrhea in women. The most popular of such sexually transmitted diseases is trichomoniasis. Such discharges are greenish or yellow.
(iii) Unhygienic toilet habits – Sharing toilet articles, especially in public toilets, can cause an infection of the vagina, resulting into leucorrhea. This is also observed by personal forgetfulness such as forgetting to remove a tampon or diaphragm. Women who rely a lot on vaginal medications are often victims of leucorrhea.
(iv) Cervical problems – Two kinds of problems with the cervix, the cervical erosion and the cervical polyp, can cause leucorrhea. Such leucorrhea is generally more profuse following sexual intercourse. The discharge is brown and resembles congealed blood.
(v) Pelvic inflammatory disease – Problems with the pelvis, such as the pelvic inflammatory disease can cause leucorrhea. The pelvis can get inflamed due to an infection.
(vi) Disease conditions – Women who suffer from diseases such as tuberculosis or anemia may have heavy discharges from their vaginas. This is observed more commonly in women who have poor resistance to diseases and live on a frugal diet.
(vii) Stress and tensions – At least some part of leucorrhea might be psychosomatic. Women who live under severe stress and worries develop leucorrhea.
Kapha dosha is the humor that maintains the proper balance of the fluid contents in the body with respect of the atmospheric balance outside. Vitiation in the kapha dosha may cause fluids from the human body to seep into the outside world. This is exactly what happens in shwetapradara. Hence, it can be clearly seen why Ayurveda labels shwetapradara or leucorrhea as a kapha dosha disorder.
Types of Leucorrhoea (Shwetapradara)
The different types of leucorrhea are classified on the basis of the colors of their discharges and their causes. The following table summarizes these types of leucorrhea:-
|
Type of Leucorrhea |
Caused by |
Color of the discharge |
|
Infectious Leucorrhea |
Infection by a fungus |
Thick and white, accompanied by an itchy sensation. |
|
Sexually Transmitted Leucorrhea |
Sexually transmitted diseases such as trichomoniasis. |
Yellowish or greenish discharge. |
|
Cervical Leucorrhea |
Erosion or formation of a polyp in the cervix. |
Brown or rusty discharge resembling blood. |
|
Pelvic Leucorrhea |
Complications with the pelvic such as the infectious pelvic inflammatory disease. |
Whitish discharge with a pain in the lumbar (lower back) region. |
|
Stress-related Leucorrhea |
Mental stresses and tensions. |
Profuse whitish discharge. |
Symptoms of Leucorrhea (Shwetapradara)
The most prominent symptom of leucorrhea is an abnormality in the general state of the discharge from the vagina. The discharge could be any of the following:-
- Darker in color than usual, mostly yellow, green or brown
- White, but profuse in quantity
- Discharge is accompanied by an itchy sensation or a pain in the lower abdomen.
In severe cases that are not treated for a long time, the discharge may begin from the anal area also. Such discharges are itchy and cause pain in both the genital and the anal area.
Complications due to Leucorrhea (Shwetapradara)
Leucorrhea is quite a commonplace problem if it is nipped in the bud. At the slightest hint of any abnormality in the discharge, one must consult a doctor. Treatment done in time checks the problem within a couple of days.
One more point to be kept in mind is that no type of self-medication must be done in the case of leucorrhea. There are many creams, ointments and pills available in the market, but they should be used only under the supervision of a qualified gynecologist. Some women are allergic to certain kinds of medicines used in leucorrhea. This could cause further infections and complicate the issue. Hence, it is better to be safe than sorry.
Transmission of Leucorrhea (Shwetapradara)
Leucorrhea that is transmitted by the yeast-like fungus is very easily transferable from one woman to another. This could happen when the clothes of an infected woman come in contact with the clothes of a healthy woman. For this reason, it is very important to clean the innerwear yourself and with a good quality detergent which has bactericidal and fungicidal properties.
Leucorrhea can also be the outcome of unsafe sexual contact. A man with unclean genitals can infect the genitals of the woman, thus causing leucorrhea in her.
Prevention of Leucorrhea (Shwetapradara)
There are many precautions that a woman must take in order to prevent leucorrhea. Some of these important guidelines are as follows:-
Genital hygiene is of utmost importance. Wash your genitals during every bath. Run water freely over the folds of the vulva and the anus. After the bath, pat dry the regions with a clean towel of your own. Do not let moisture retain in the genital or anal area after the bath.
Drink plenty of water which helps in flushing out the toxins from the body.
Be very particular about how you clean the anal area after defecation.
If your clothes get wet in the rain, immediately change them. This includes your lingerie and underwear.
Nylon is not a good material, especially in the summer season, as it retains sweat in the genital area. Cotton is an ideal material for panties.
Make doubly sure that your partner is free from any kind of infection if you are planning to have sexual intercourse with him. Both you and your partner must wash your genital areas before and after the act. You can make this a part of the sexual play and increase titillation.
If you are masturbating, ensure that your fingers are thoroughly clean. This applies to all other sexual toys and objects that you might enter into the vagina during the masturbation act.
Do not unnecessarily use any cosmetics like powders or perfumes in the genital area.
Do stress busting exercises regularly. Go on a walk or jog early morning. If the body is stress-free, its resistance to diseases is alleviated.
Diet for Preventing Leucorrhea (Shwetapradara)
Leucorrhea can be prevented by streamlining the diet. Streamlining means removing some harmful foods and adding some which are beneficial. Since leucorrhea is a kapha dosha disease, the diet must be streamlined in order to balance the kapha dosha.
The following is an ideal diet for a woman suffering from leucorrhea:-
- Sugar must be avoided if there is profuse discharge. This also applies to all sugary foods such as sweets, pastries, custards, ice-creams and puddings.
- Mushrooms must be avoided as they are fungi themselves. Some mushrooms can cause contamination.
- Hot and spicy foods make things more complicated for the agni, i.e. the digestive fire of the body. Hence they must be minimized in the diet.
- Alcohol must be totally avoided.
- Instead, fresh curds must become an integral part of the diet. Curds help the easy digestion of food. Curds contain lactic acid, which can reduce the discharge. Also, curds have a cooling effect on the human body.

Thanks lady care product. The Ultimate bottle has cured my herpes completely. I got herpes a year and a half ago and have been breaking out for long spells at least every other month. I was honestly so skeptical about your company but was quite fed-up and just decided to give it a go. I’m real glad I did because….just 2 weeks into the kit I was completely rid of my symptoms. I took 2 bottles just in case. Finished with the 2nd bottle over a month ago. I hope the herpes never returns! So far I’m extremely happy. K.M, NY, 3rd March, 09
I have tried every herbal and prescription product out there for herpes including valtrex, larrea, red marine algae, dmso and ozone therapy. Nothing comes close to the results I saw with the Lady Care product which I took for 3 months. I have no symptoms left whatsoever and am leading a regular life now almost forgetting that I ever had herpes. I feel like this is a herpes cure and wonder why they say it is impossible to cure herpes.” M.N, Dallas, 4th Jan, 06
I love your Lady Care product. I suffered for 8 years with herpes and believe me I tried every remedy there is!
